Site of the day:Common French Mistakes: 9 Linguistic Faux Pas to Watch Out For
FSF 1P
le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous discutons les normes de notre classe. Nous apprenons comment parler de nous-mêmes.
  • Change of original plans - Tomorrow is Camp Henderson - special activity for period 1 only, so we will be having a class in French tomorrow.
  • Watched Bonjour - se présenter en français and talked with partner. (see photos for helpful expressions)

  • Soyez respectueux/Be respectful. Continued creating posters.
  • Introduction to oral assessment activity "Je me présente/ Mon Introduction/ Parler de moi-même" Students will introduce themselves by speaking and recording using iPads with the app Explain Everything. Criteria for assignment posted in The Hub. Students will be making a cue card (on paper or on their iPad), making brief notes in French -preferably in the form of a mind-map - see photo below for an example . Do not write sentences.  Think about simple sentences, not expressing complex thoughts as you can in English. We will continue work on Monday.
    • Find photos or images that you can use to illustrate your presentation. Upload the photos to your Google Drive or Dropbox or somewhere that they will be easy to retrieve to add to Explain Everything, or, bring in the item to photograph with the iPad. Photos are a very nice addition to your recording, but the speaking is the most important, so focus on the planning first.
    • Note: instead of Google Translate, use WordReference on-line dictionary but don't translate every word. There are games and a verb conjugator available on that site and it is also available as a free app. Other good tools are Linguee on-line dictionary (good for expressions) , Le grand dictionnaire & Bescherelle (verb conjugations).
  • les devoirs: Should be spending 15 - 20 minutes daily on French home study Monday through Thursday. If all class work is completed, follow suggestions in Home Study extras
    • Collect photos/images for Je me présente.
    • Read over course information sheet with parents/guardians.
    • Make sure your iPad is charged and ready to go every day.
