Check out the video that the FSF 3U class made and submitted for a University of Ottawa contest. La meilleure classe de français en Ontario! Westdale Secondary 2013  We didn't make the list of finalists, but we had a lot of fun and are very proud of our work.
Reminder re: journal/blog.  We are in the 11th week of this assignment.  If you don't already have at least 9 entries done, get caught up.  See your handout or blog post "FIF 1D or FSF 3U journal/blog" in labels section for further details and topic ideas.  Due date: le 13 décembre.

FIF 1D
le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment parler des événements au passé et comment comparer deux versions d'une histoire.
  • dû le 29 nov - aujourd'hui - Bonne copie: Comparing 2 versions of a story:  le Bossu de Notre-Dame - Disney & Notre-Dame de Paris - le livre qu'on a lu.  Venn diagram (or can be in chart form) with 8 - 10 statements in each category (i.e. 24 - 30 statements in total for les différences et les similitudes then  4 - 5 sentences giving own opinion: Quelle version de l'histoire préférais-tu et pourquoi?  
  • le passé composé 
    • show teacher work is finished if didn't do that yesterday: package of handouts for practice for test.  Dû le jeudi 28 novembre - fini et corrigé.  Answer keys posted in classroom and on separate blog post FIF 1D le passé composé: les réponses
    • 5 minutes pour réviser, puis, le test
    • test format
      • partie 1 - la formation - fill in blanks and changing sentences from present to past
      • partie 2 - 10 phrases - le thème - la semaine passée ou l'été passé.  Discussion & note: how to achieve level 4:
        • 10 phrases avec 10 verbes différents en formes correctes
        • variété de verbes (avoir/être, réguliers/irréguliers)
        • variété de sujets (je, nous...)
        • les phrases intéressantes, logiques et avec les détails
        • le négatif & l'interrogatif
  • Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine unless there is work not completed this week (i.e. Notre-Dame comparaison) or if you need to write a journal/blog entry, organize binder, or watch a DVD in French (no subtitles).

  • Essay writing contest: French for the Future - French essay writing contest   Students may choose to do this essay instead of the Bossu de Notre-Dame composition if they wish.  Must speak to Ms.K-J to discuss due dates and format if choosing this option.
  • le passé 
    • test - le passé composé, l'imparfait & le plus-que-parfait - formation and use.  Did some review first
  • Le Bossu de Notre-Dame:
    • follow handout for written project (parameters: 2 pgs. double-spaced, show understanding of book & connection to self or our society) - work on brouillon due le vendredi 6 déc.
    • will also be doing an oral assessment 
  • DVD: Bon Cop Bad Cop
  • discussed: next Thurs. Dec. 5 we will have a class lunch.  I will bring Brie cheese, baguettes, paté, plates, napkins, cutlery, glasses, tablecloths, battery candles.  Students will bring other food (with serving utensils) to share - talk with friends to bring something together.
