ENG 2D
learning goal: How to do better presentations.
learning goal: How to do better presentations.
- Students did short introductory presentations of themselves illustrating something that should not be done in presentations, followed by debriefing, class and small group discussions. Students took notes on what to do and not do as a presenter and as an audience. We will be adding to that note throughout the semester to prepare for the culminating task in January.
- Homework: presentation skills - Discuss with family, or find further information on internet and add to your note.
le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment parler de nous-mêmes.
- Looked at handout and explained oral assessment activity "Mon Introduction/Parler de moi-même" where students will introduce themselves by speaking and recording on Monday, September 14 in the library using the iPads with the apps/websites Explain Everything. Students began planning what they will say and making brief notes in French -preferably in the form of a mind-map - see photo for an example below. Do not write sentences. Think about simple sentences, not expressing complex thoughts as you can in English. Work a bit tonight and we will also have some time in class tomorrow to finish the idea page, do a quick rehearsal for timing and start the cue card.
- Note: instead of Google Translate, use WordReference on-line dictionary . There are games and a verb conjugator available on that site and it is also available as a free app. Other good tools are Linguee on-line dictionary (good for expressions) , Le grand dictionnaire & Bescherelle (verb conjugations).
- les devoirs:
- think and write a few notes about yourself for your spoken introduction next week using the handout given in class today. Spend about 15 - 20 minutes - no need to finish it all.
