Today, Ms. K-J was presenting at a Professional Development Day for teachers in York Catholic District School Board on "Differentiated Instruction: Practical Applications for Language Classes" so students worked independently and in small groups while supervised by a substitute teacher.

FSF 2D
  • First 30 min. or so – work quietly with partner or group or on own.
    a. Cahier pgs. 27 and 28. Answer pages included in this folder for them to check own work. This was assigned earlier this week, so most students will be done.
    b. Cahier pg. 29 – personal answers to be completed for next Tues.
    c. Finish reading chapter 5 of text.
    d. Work on cahier pgs. 32 – 34. Answer pages posted at back.
  • Last 40 min. or so - DVD – Benjamin Button.
  • Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine (unless you are behind...)
FSF 1D
  • le but d'apprentissage: Comment écrire un profil personnel.
  • Students compiled the information from the questionnaires into a first draft of their annonces personnels.  They were to write 15 sentences for each monster (30 in total) including the monster's name, personality, physical appearance, interests, past, and what the monster was looking for. They were to include 10 adjectives, 5 verbs in the passe compose with avoir and 5 in the passé composé with être.
  • Devoirs: Students should complete the first draft for homework if it was not completed in class. Students MUST come to class with a complete first draft on Monday so that they may continue with the next step of the project: peer editing.
FSF 1P
  • First half of period – worked quietly with partner or on own on creating their posters for “Une Personne que j’admire” on ledger paper provided.  They should have completed the planning work in their cahier (workbook) on page 33 and should have brought in some pictures (clip art, magazine or newspaper, drawings, etc.).  There is a sample poster in the textbook on page 29. These textbooks are on a shelf by the television and these do not leave the classroom. There is a box of old magazines in the classroom they can use for more illustrations if they need them.
  • Last half of period: DVD: Mr.Bean’s Holiday 
  • Devoirs: Students do know that if they haven’t accomplished much in class they will be expected to catch up during the weekend.  The poster should be nearly done.
