Site of the day: French YouTube Channels to explore
ENG 2D
learning goal: We are learning about a film adaptation of Shakespeare.
  • Comparative Essay: good copy due today at the beginning of class. See photo for illustration of order of pages. After today, no deduction of marks, but is late and required to hand in a late explanation note signed by parent/guardian. 
  • Shakespeare -  Handout package: Film adaptation: Romeo and Juliet. Started checking and correcting it today. Finished: “Investigating the model” page 71 including checklist.and half of  “Grammar” – read carefully, study examples and do questions. Tomorrow we will continue with: “Mechanics and Design”,  “Usage and Style” and “Word Study and Spelling”.
  • For the last 30 minutes or so each day: DVD: Romeo + Juliet. The teacher will try to stop the film 5 minutes before the end of class and students should make notes on what they saw today. If not done in class, make notes for homework.
    • Homework :
        • Review and add to your discussion notes for the handout package about Romeo and Juliet and your notes from watching the film. Follow guidelines from last week - was due today.
        • Comparative Essay - Good copy (including cover page and all draft work and ideas) was originally due Tues. Oct. 20 but could hand in today, Mon. Oct. 26. See above for details.
          • Bring a book to read quietly in class for any time that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.

                • Checked and corrected: Les verbes au présent handout pkg. and gender of nouns and adjectives from last week's work. See photos for answers. 
                • Notre-Dame de Paris: began chapter 7 - Read together in class and listened. Read again in small groups and worked on Ex. 2.
                • In computer lab 319 tomorrow. 
                • les devoirs: Should be spending 15 - 20 minutes daily on French home study Monday through Thursday. If all class work is completed, follow suggestions in:  Home Study extras
                    • Listen to one or both versions of today's song and sing quietly to help with pronunciation.
                    • Re-read Notre-Dame de Paris chapter 7.
                    • blog - this week's suggested topics: une critique de "Monsters, Inc." - résumé et opinion, les Blue Jays, ou, le travail independent.                     • Talked about exchanges and summer programs as a way to really become fluent in speaking French.

                    • Make sure you have checked and corrected: gender of nouns and adjectives from last Friday's work - see photos for answers - don't copy - use it to check. Make sure you finished the irregular adjectives handout from Wed. Oct. 21. We will correct that on Wednesday.
                    • In computer lab 319 tomorrow.
