ENG 2D
learning goal: We are learning about a film adaptation of Shakespeare.
- Comparative Essays
- good copy was due Tues. Oct. 20 - see previous posts for details, but, can hand it in on Mon. Oct. 26 - not late. After that date, still no deduction of marks, but will be late and required to hand in a late explanation note signed by parent/guardian.
- Shakespeare - Handout package: Film adaptation: Romeo and Juliet. Start this on Wed. Oct. 21 and work for about 35 – 40 minutes or so each day. Follow the handout step-by-step. Work in groups or individually and make notes directly on the handout or separately. Each student must make his or her own notes if working in groups. Use time well in class, and if necessary, at home, to complete all sections except for “Writer’s Workshop” for Mon. Oct. 26. I will be checking and correcting it on Mon. Oct. 26.
- “Investigating the model” page 71 including checklist.
- Don’t do “Writer’s Workshop” – we won’t be writing own screenplays right now.
- “Grammar” – read carefully, study examples and do questions.
- Read “Mechanics and Design” to relate it to the screenplay example on pages 63 – 70.
- “Usage and Style” – read, study examples and do questions.
- “Word Study and Spelling” – read, study examples and do questions.
- For the last 30 minutes or so each day: DVD: Romeo + Juliet. The teacher will try to stop the film 5 minutes before the end of class and students should make notes on what they saw today. If not done in class, make notes for homework.
- Homework :
- Review and add to your discussion notes for the handout package about Romeo and Juliet. Follow guidelines above to finish for Mon. Oct. 26.
- Comparative Essay - Good copy (including cover page and all draft work and ideas) was due Tues. Oct. 20 but can hand in Mon. Oct. 26. See above for details.
