learning goal: We are writing an essay for the novel Speak.
- Speak - In computer lab 319 today to continue to revise draft of essay "How is the novel Speak a relevant book in 2016?" Remember to copy and paste the rough draft in your document (one document, not 2 separate documents) and then to revise the top copy to make it into your good copy.
- Today, we reviewed how to do "Works cited" and cover page. See posts for previous days for exemplars of introduction and concluding paragraphs and examples of thesis statement and transitional words. Useful sites: Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab) & Citation Machine
- Essay is now due Mon. April 25 at the beginning of class - all parts - cover page, good copy, Works cited & draft, (through Google Drive, share with bkukhtaj@hwdsb.on.ca ), completed planning template & brainstorm sheet & rubric (on papers). Name your document carefully i.e. ENG1D first lastname Speak essay Apr 2016

- Homework: Get in the habit of doing 20 - 30 minutes of English homework every night Monday to Thursday. Review lessons, extend your knowledge or read.
- Speak - Essay writing- see above. Now due Mon. Apr. 25 and students are welcome to submit it earlier. If submitted after Apr 25, late - no penalty for marks, but will be required to complete Late Explanation sheet.
- Independent reading. Bring a book to read quietly in class for any time that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.
