learning goal: We are reading the novel Speak.

Gave checklist (on paper, but also on this link: Checklist - Speak Discussion Notes). Finish organizing your discussion notes and vocabulary sentences to submit for evaluation. See photo in yesterday's post for sample of cover/title page. Level 4: complete, organized, good grammar (point form is fine), easy to read, evidence of additions, cover page, legible (does not have to be written as a "good copy" - see me if you need clarification that I can read your work). If submitted through Google Drive, title it carefully i.e. ENG1D first last name Speak notes Apr 2016 and share with bkukhtaj@hwdsb.on.ca. Due Friday April 8.

Think about essay as summative assessment "How is the novel Speak a relevant book in 2016?". Assignment sheet and graphic organizer will be distributed Friday or Monday. There will be class time to work next week.

Homework: Get in the habit of doing 20 - 30 minutes of English homework every night Monday to Thursday. Review lessons, extend your knowledge or read.

Independent reading. Bring a book to read quietly in class for any time that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.
