learning goal: We are learning about narration through ballads.

• Continued discussion about narration. 
• Groups presented their chosen ballads from the handout given yesterday and discussed.
• Watched Stan Rogers Jeannie C & Remembering Stan Rogers, The National
• In groups, discussed questions 1 - 10 from pages 24 - 25 of the handout and took notes.
• Next week, students will be writing their own ballads.
• No homework if all caught up for the work this week.  May wish to watch some film versions of fairy tales or do some research on ballads.

• Skimmed articles from Panorama 1. Each student created a personal vocabulary sheet of words and expressions that apply to themselves that they might be able to use when they write about themselves.

• Continued discussion about Fairy Tales and narration today. 
• Finished discussing and analyzing Little Red Riding Hood - discussed handout for sections 3.2-1 - 3.2-4 with class.
• Watched Roald Dahl Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf   
• Began discussing ballads
• Definition - handout
• In groups, chose one of the 3 ballads from the handout, read it and planned a presentation for class tomorrow.
• Homework:  Read the 3 ballads and finish preparing your part of the presentation.

Each student created a personal vocabulary sheet of words and expressions that apply to themselves that they might be able to use when they write about themselves and submitted it for assessment at the end of class.

learning goal: We are learning about narration through fairy tales.

• Continued discussion about Fairy Tales and narration today. 
• Discussed what remembered about sequence of events from Little Red Riding Hood and moral of the story.
• Read and discussed Charles Perrault's version of Little Red Riding Hood with moral poem at end. 
• Read and discussed article "Text and Context". Re-read and took notes of what learned and new thoughts. 
• Began filling in information on handout for sections 3.2-1, 3.2-2 and 3.2-3 in groups. 
• Homework:  Continue filling handout for sections 3.2-1, 3.2-2 and 3.2-3  with some information - spend 15 - 20 minutes. No need to complete all of it, as we will finish it in class tomorrow, collecting and sharing ideas.
• Finish re-reading "Text and Context" and adding your own notes.

• Continued discussion about Fairy Tales and narration today. 

• Watched video Cinderella and read "Cinderella" poem by Roald Dahl from "Revolting Rhymes" 
• Re-read "Cinderella" by the Brothers Grimm and compared with Dahl poem using Venn diagram. 
• Discussed connection to  "There was once" by Margaret Atwood
• Started writing what you remember about sequence of events from Little Red Riding Hood.
• Homework:  Think about stories in the news and/or your own life and and reflect on how they might connect to a fairy tale or try to find another version of Cinderella to watch or read.
• Finish writing sequence of events from Little Red Riding Hood.

• Finished recording oral assessment activity "Mon Introduction/Parler de moi-même" where students introduced themselves by speaking using the iPads or their own device with the apps/website Explain Everything.  Allowed to use cue card created over the last few days.  Do not write sentences.  Follow instructions on handout with the rubric given in class last Thursday and hand that in to Ms.K-J when you have uploaded your video to your Google Drive and shared it with bkukhtaj@hwdsb.on.ca . See Uploading stuff to Google Drive for instructions.  This is our last day in the library so must finish today. 
• When done, can create account for Duolingo and use that whenever possible to practice and learn more French or can try one of: #PARISDIY or Free Rice trivia game
