  • Finished watching "Into the Woods", taking notes of Fairy tale variations and references. Listen carefully to the songs as ballads. Wrote a small 5 - 6 sentence reflection and submitted it.
  • Red Riding Hood - will be doing small group analysis and presentation of different versions of the story. Distributed stories and analysis handout today. Read your version and make notes on the analysis handout to prepare for group work tomorrow.
    • Homework:  Red Riding Hood - read version and make notes. See above for details.

      Tips to increase your vocabulary in French


      • Twitter - mot du jour
      • films - no subtitles, pay close attention to words, not just overall gist
      • homework - fill in blanks, etc. - Read and understand the sentences.  Don't just mechanically fill in the correct form of the verb or adjective or whatever.
      • Read - books, articles, magazines, comic books, newspapers, interesting web sites

      Websites to help with writing French correctly

      WordReference on-line dictionary . There are games and a verb conjugator available on that site and it is also available as a free app. Other good tools are Linguee on-line dictionary (good for expressions) , Le grand dictionnaire & Bescherelle (verb conjugations).

      • Recorded oral assessment activity "Mon Introduction/Parler de moi-même" where students introduced themselves by speaking using the iPads or their own device with the apps/websites Audioboom or Educreations.  Students created their own account.  Allowed to use cue cards created over the last 2 days.  Do not write sentences.  Follow instructions on handout with the rubric given yesterday and hand that in to the green basket when you have sent the email to bkukhtaj@hwdsb.on.ca .
      • When done, can create account for Duolingo and use that whenever possible to practice and learn more French.

      • own ballad:  Anyone wishing to present again today may do so for re-evaluation.
        • Written work due today- good copy with visual, annotated copy and draft work and ideas are due. Follow guidelines on handout for assignment and success criteria using rubrics and checklist. Minimum length: 3 stanzas (12 lines) or 5 stanzas if working with a partner. If not handed in today by the end of class, is late. If not ready to hand in tomorrow at the beginning of class, will need to complete "Late assignment explanation" which includes comments and signature of student and of parents/guardians. 
        • Gave feedback for improving presentations. Students should be taking notes about presentations regularly to improve throughout the semester.
