Site of the day: What does it mean if someone says "C'est n'importe quoi" in French?

learning goal: We are learning about narration through fairy tales and ballads.
  • Worked on own ballad. Shared ballad as written so far with group. Had someone else in group read your ballad out loud and discussed foot, metre, stanza, rhyme and suggestions for improvements. Follow guidelines on handout for assignment and success criteria using rubrics and checklist. Minimum length: 3 stanzas (12 lines) or 5 stanzas if working with a partner.  Time to work in class today. We are booked into the computer lab on Thurs. Sept. 24 to be able to type up own ballad - both versions.
  • If done, read quietly on own - a book of some sort - novel or non-fiction. 
    • Homework:  Work on your ballad - have draft done before class Thurs. Sept. 24. Presentations Mon. Sept. 28. Written work due Tues. Sept. 29.
      • Bring a book to read quietly in class for anytime that you finish your class work early.

      • chapter 1 - corrected questions ex. 1 - 3. 
      • Did listening activity Ex. 4. 
      • Watched musical to approximate end of Chapter 1.
    • les devoirs: Should be spending 15 - 20 minutes daily on French home study Monday through Thursday. If all class work is completed, follow suggestions in:  Home Study extras
      • Re-read Notre-Dame de Paris chapter 1 if not already done.
      • Perhaps research in French about Paris in 1482, Victor Hugo, Gringoire etc.
      • Make sure to finish and publish your first blog post "Mon introduction" or "Moi et mes objectifs" or similar by the end of the week. You may also choose to work on updating your profile with an avatar and by following some of your classmates.
      • Always available and fun: Duolingo , #PARISDIY or Free Rice trivia game

      • les chiffres (numbers) - reference sheet and puzzles. Finish all 4 puzzles for tomorrow.
