Take our kids to work day: Wed. Nov.3. A great opportunity for our grade 9 students to relate school life to the world of work and to think about their future career.

• Worked on adding to the idea/brainstorm sheet for next paragraph "Ma Journée" by looking at livre pgs. 16 - 17 & 21 and writing/adapting/personalizing sentences that express your own day.  We discussed how to use the writing process to produce a better final product than simply writing a paragraph in English then using a web translator.  We suggested an experiment: type a paragraph from the French textbook and ask the translator to change it to English, or, make your own paragraph in English, then translate it to French, to German, to a couple of other languages, then back to English to see how many mistakes will be in that final English paragraph.  Results can be very funny!
• Finished watching "Shrek" and started "Mr. Bean's Holiday".

Reminder: Re-tests are available for many of the tests and quizzes that we do, but, don't depend on them.  Always be as prepared as possible for each class (as if there might be a "pop quiz" on any day on anything already covered) and especially be ready for a scheduled test or quiz.  Use effective study methods, not just reading over your notes.  Re-tests are more work than being ready for the original test i.e. you must show that you have corrected the original test, you must show further evidence that you have studied, and you must make arrangements to do the re-test at lunch or after school.

• Nous avons fait un tirage pour les petits prix.  Nous recommençons à gagner des billets.
• We did conversation activity #1: On fait du camping using the Tu Parles books (red & blue books from the shelf).
• Une Journée à mon goût: livre pg. 16 -17.  We did the listening activity in "Avant de lire", and introduced the article.  We will continue tomorrow.
• Devoirs: Begin to prepare for test: Les Adjectifs for Thurs. Oct. 7.  Review and re-do your note using the notes we made together in class and livre pg. 208 - 210.

FSF 1P

• Rechauffement: made word posters of as many items in classroom as possible that you know in French.
• Livre pg. 12-13 and cahier pg. 10 - speaking and listening and vocabulary of activities.
• livre pg. 18 - 19: Blogs and texting article.
• Devoirs: fiche #5: le verbe faire and write 3 things (in English or French) of actions you can take to improve your learning.

FSF 1D

• Did quiz: les verbes irréguliers: être, avoir, faire, aller.  Had class time to review first.  A re-test will be available starting Tues. for students wishing to try again.
• Handed in composition "Ma Description" making sure all parts completed and presented well.
• Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine (except for the very few who did not hand in "Ma Description").

FSF 2D

• Did quiz: l'imparfait vs. le passé composé: la description vs. l'action.  Had time to review in class first.  A re-test will be available starting Tues for students wishing to try again.
• Discussed how to earn more tickets i.e. watch DVD's, internet practise and surfing en français, making practice activities - paper or computer
• Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine.

FSF 1P

• Reviewed les verbes réguliers au présent using cahier pgs. 6 - 8 and discussion then did quiz.
• Watched DVD Shrek.
