learning goal: We are learning how to write a comparative essay.
Comparative Essay checklist
  • Returned feedback, notes and marks for Red Riding Hood presentations.
  • Comparative Essays - Corrected grammar activities on pages 223 - 226 of handouts
    • Read page 220 - 221 Writer's Workshop and discussed. Hand in paper with your topic by end of class -  comparing 2 or more different characters, settings or themes in a novel or novels that you have studied in the last year, although there are other possibilities if you discuss them with Ms.K-J before beginning. Worked on chart for generating ideas (Step #2) and beginning Step #3 in class today. Tonight, complete Step #3 and #4 - thesis statement - to be on track for writing your essay. We will be in the computer lab on Thurs. Oct. 15 for writing and/or editing the draft. Aim to have a draft done for Fri. Oct 16 and good copy submitted Tues. Oct. 20.

  • Homework: 
    • handout - comparison essays - see above.
    • Bring a book to read quietly in class for anytime that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.
