learning goal: We are comparing different versions of a narrative.
Comparative Essay checklist
  • Comparative Essays - Submitted notes from group discussion if not completed in class yesterday for formative assessment. 
    • Created checklist on a Google Docs open to all at this link: Comparative Essay checklist ENG2D
    • Read page 220 Writer's Workshop #1 and talked about choosing topic for own essay- comparing 2 or more different characters, settings or themes in a novel or novels that you have studied in the last year . Have a topic for Tues. Oct. 13.
    • Grammar - focused on subject-verb agreement and pronouns. Read pages 223 - 226 of handout and did exercises 1 & 2. Finish 
  • No homework if all caught up for the work this week.    Red Riding Hood comparison - presentation and submission of analysis Monday. See above for details.
    • Decide topic for own comparative essay - see above.
    • Finish Grammar section of essay handout.
    • Bring a book to read quietly in class for anytime that you finish your class work early.
    FIF 1D
    le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment faire des descriptions.
      • les descriptions - les adjectifs - review, lesson, note (see photos for a brief summary note to add to handout), handout, practice, examples - complete for homework if not done in class. Most students finished and corrected their work.
      • le film de vendredi: On Fridays, we usually watch a film in French with French subtitles where available as a part of the Listening Strand of the curriculum and also for Francophone culture. We are currently watching:  Monsters, Inc. 
        • Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine as long as all caught up. Students may wish to do some review or practice. See suggestions below.
          • blog - this week's suggested topics: Terry Fox, l'automne. See this post: Journal/blog FIF 1D or your assignment paper for details. You may also choose to work on updating your profile with an avatar and by following some of your classmates.
