Contest opportunity for students studying French: Concours des dix mots
Site of the day: True or false? été and étais are pronounced the same
ENG 2D 
learning goal: We are learning to understand Shakespeare.
  • Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet
    • Read Act II and listened to CD. Answered vocabulary and multiple choice questions. Submitted for assessment.
    • Reflection from oral presentations of Act. Gave rubric and guiding questions handout to help with planning/writing. Address strategies (i.e. used, what worked, what didn't, what could have done better - individual and group) for the oral presentation (both presenting and listening), reading (preparing the script) and media (2 films, the play itself, internet/research). Good copy will be due Tues. Nov. 24. Format is creative - can be written paragraphs, a mind-map, a video presentation, a Prezi, etc. 
  • No homework if all caught up for the work this week. Some suggestions if you wish to do some work:
    • Reflection: complete assignment for Tuesday Nov 24.
    • May wish to read Act III before listening, reading and assessment on Monday.
    • Bring a book to read quietly in class for any time that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.

  • le passé - le passé composé et l'imparfait 
    • Created, corrected and discussed sentences of interrupted actions individually, in small groups and with entire class.
    • Handout package. Due today - filled in, checked and corrected. If not completed for today, finish on the weekend.  Check and correct own answers at this link.  Use what you learn as you write your newspaper article. There will be a test next Fri. Nov. 27.
    • Kahoot! le passé composé et l'imparfait
  • Notre-Dame de Paris 
    • Newspaper article: Follow instructions on handout carefully to complete this correctly. Due date for good copy of article is Tues. Nov. 24. You will be submitting all steps - l'article, le brouillon, 2 listes de controle (the small one signed by your peer editor), 2 gabarits - may submit good copy and draft through Google Drive or as a hard copy. Highlight or underline all examples of le passé composé et l'imparfait.
  • Watched DVD La panthère rose. 
  • Pas de devoirs pour la fin de semaine as long as all caught up. Students may wish to do some review or practice. See suggestions below.
