le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment mieux lire.
  • the downfalls of Google Translate: watched Frozen: Let it Go 
  • Mardi Gras (Watch again at home to understand it better.)
  • reading: choose an article from one of the French magazines in the classroom. Read and briefly summarize. Will be presenting to small group tomorrow. Les nouvelles/les articles
    • les devoirs: Should be spending 15 - 20 minutes daily on French home study Monday through Thursday. If all class work is completed, follow suggestions in: Home Study extras
        • Organize binder with dividers.
      ENG 2D
      learning goal: We are learning about narration.
      • video and article: Some English words secretly contain French phrases
      • Wrote short account of a recent event, then shared in small groups. 
      • Discussion of handout "Narration" and analyzed own story.
      • Read poem "Chance Encounter" and analyzed re: narration. 
        • Reflection to be completed tonight:  
          • Which is stronger: narrative as a story or narrative as poetry?
          • Main characters in the poem - what do we learn about human interaction with animals and nature? How does the voice in the poem feel?
          • What are our views about the interactions between animals and humans? How do humans act towards animals? Are animals helpful to humans? In what way?
      • Homework: Get in the habit of doing 20 - 30 minutes of English homework every night Monday to Thursday. Review lessons, extend your knowledge or read.
        • Re-read handout on narration and poem "Chance Encounter"
        • Read over course information sheet ENG 2D with parents/guardians.
        • Organize binder with dividers.
        • Bring a book to read quietly in class for any time that you finish your class work early. Read regularly at home.
      FSF 1D

        • les lettres: Read a letter from a student at Preston High School then started writing own letter. Have rough draft done for tomorrow. See this post: letters in French for photos and help.
        • les devoirs: Should be spending 15 - 20 minutes daily on French home study Monday through Thursday. If all class work is completed, follow suggestions in: Home Study extras
              • Read over course information sheet FSF1D with parents/guardians.
