Site of the day: Easy French reading
Opportunity for special ambassador program for students currently in grade 11 French: Forum national des jeunes ambassadeurs  Know anyone who might be interested? Pass on the information to them.

le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment parler des évéments au passé.
  • Les verbes irréguliers au present:  être, avoir, faire, aller, mettre, prendre, partir, sortir. Corrected own work and spoke sentences with partner.
  • Explanation of past tense and how to form le passé composé. Looked at livre pgs.41, 49. 59, 73, 81, 91 to speak with group about what did yesterday, on weekend etc. 
  • les invitations:  Finished assessments today. Students had opportunity for a re-assessment if they wished. Used livre 32 - 33 (see photos from previous days) and cahier handouts 41 and 49 and agenda from Friday to prepare for assessment.  
  • les devoirs: Students should be doing 20 minutes or so of home study each evening Mon - Thurs.
    • blog/journal entry for this week - if not already done - suggested topics this week - le cancer, or -  une réfléxion de faire un blogue (only if this is your 10th entry).  Should have completed at 10 entries by the end of this week. Entire journal is due Fri. le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment écrire un article du journal.
  • Notre-Dame de Paris - newspaper articles. 
    • Due today: le gabarit (triangle outline). May work with a small group to generate ideas but each student must complete their own copy of the gabarit. 
    • Start writing draft. It is due Tuesday May 5. Follow guidelines on handout from Tuesday April 28. May use real newspapers as models. Should be written on every other line to allow space for revision and additions. Students are encouraged to write on the computer if possible. 
  • le passé - l'imparfait vs. le passé composé - continued, repeated, habitual actions vs. specific, limited actions. Corrected handout together and discussed.
    • le plus-que-parfait - how to say that an action was completed further in the past i.e. before another action or description also in the past.  Lesson, discussion, examples, note - see photo.  This could be useful in writing the newspaper article.
  • les devoirs: Students should be doing 20 minutes or so of home study each evening Mon - Thurs.
