Site of the day: "You" in French - tu ou vous?
Opportunity for special ambassador program for students currently in grade 11 French: Forum national des jeunes ambassadeurs  Know anyone who might be interested? Pass on the information to them.

le but d'apprentissage (learning goal): Nous apprenons comment mieux lire.
  • Les verbes irréguliers au present:  être, avoir, faire, aller, mettre, prendre, partir, sortir. Make own note from the chart paper on the side board or from the photos posted below and complete both sides of the handout. Anything not finished in class is for homework.
  • If finished before the end of the period, can use cellphone to complete a blog entry, to read friends’ blogs, for Duolingo or can read French magazines or review other French work.
  • les devoirs: Students should be doing 20 minutes or so of home study each evening Mon - Thurs.
    • finish handout on les verbes au présent. Practice these verbs.
    • blog/journal entry for this week - if not already done - suggested topics this week - le cancer, or -  une réfléxion de faire un blogue (only if this is your 10th entry).  Should have completed at 10 entries by the end of this week. Entire journal is due Fri. May 15. See FSF 1D journal/blog or handout given in February for details.

  • Notre-Dame de Paris - newspaper articles. 
    • Finish le gabarit (triangle outline). May work with a small group to generate ideas but each student must complete their own copy of the gabarit. It is due tomorrow, Thurs. Apr. 30. 
    • When done gabarit, start writing draft. It is due Tuesday May 5. Follow guidelines on handout from Tuesday. May use real newspapers as models.
  • le passé - l'imparfait vs. le passé composé - continued, repeated, habitual actions vs. specific, limited actions. Handout note and practice. Read carefully and complete.
  • les devoirs: Students should be doing 20 minutes or so of home study each evening Mon - Thurs.
    • Notre-Dame de Paris  - newspaper article - gabarit (triangle outline) due tomorrow, draft due Tues May 5.
    • le passé - handout - for tomorrow.
    • blog/journal entry for this week -suggested topic this week -  le cancer, or une réfléxion de faire un blogue (only if this is your 10th entry).  Should have completed at 10 entries by the end of this week.
